Title in red and black. With allegorical and architectural frontispiece engr. by Jan van Vianen and 59 engr. plates depicting coins, some signed by Schoonebeek. Title, (2) leaves, 132 pp., (7) leaves index. Small 4to. Contemp. limp vellum with gilt-lettered label on spine (spine ends defective with some worm punctures).Paris (i.e. the Netherlands), Antoine Dézailler, 1695.

Counterfied Dutch issue of the original 1694 Paris edition. Description of the numismatic collection of François de Camps. The French numismatist Vaillant (1632–1706) travelled a lot in Italy, Sicily, and Greece from where he brought a large number of important coins and medals back to Paris. Thus the Royal French collection became one of the most important in Europe. The frontispiece and the medals of the original edition were accurately engr. by Ertinger while here they were copied by van Vianen and Schoonebek. – Lipsius 409 (ignores the forgery); Brunet V, 1027f.; Hoefer XLV, 831f. – Some heavier browning to the last few text leaves. Spine worming affecting inner margins of some leaves in the middle of the book. – Best.-Nr. 5752
