Early edition of Balzac’s „Scènes de la Vie de Province“, published in the same year as the original Paris edition. Van der Perre categorizes the present volume as a „contrefaçon“, a counterfit of the original edition. – Van der Perre 170. – Binding rubbed and spine darkened. Foxing in parts. Ms. ownership entry „Otto Rommel“ on first flyleaf of both volumes, possibly the Austrian literary historian Otto Rommel (1880–1965).
