Beautiful edition of Herodotus’ (5th century BC) Greek history in 9 books. The work ist translated from the Greek by the Verenese nobleman Giulio Cesare Becelli and contains the life of Herdotus by Tommaso Porchacchi. The impressive copperplate at the beginning of the dedication to King Charles of Bourbon show the coat of arms of the House of Bourbon. 18th-century typographic bookplate „Joseph Wiswald de Soleure“ on first paste-down. – Some staining the the upper right corner of the last leaves. Vellum soiled. Else a fine, inside very clean copy. – Best.-Nr. 27366
