Reissue of the first edition of Bernhard Varen’s (1622–1650) seminal work on geography, initially published in 1650 by Louis Elzevir. The „Geographia generalis“ was reprinted and augmented multiple times and made Varen a founding father of geography as a science. The later 1673 edition was annotated by Isaac Newton. With armorial bookplate of M. E. Révérend du Mesnil. – Willems 1130. – Spine slightly faded, leather missing on lower right corner of front board. Engraved titel cut on upper edge (no image loss).
