First impression of the first Elzevir-Edition of Caesar’s collected writings in this format. „La plus parfaite des productions elzeviriennes, le principal chef-d’oeuvre entre tous ceux qui ont immortalisé le nom des grands typographes néerlandais.“ (Willems, p. 103) The text was edited by Joseph Justus Scaliger (1540–1609), one of the most recognised philologists of his time and son of Italian humanist Julius Caesar Scaliger (1484–1558). The included texts are „de bello Gallico“, „de bello civili“, „de bello Alexandrino“, „de bello Africo“, „de bello Hispaniensi“ and „Fragmenta ex libris epistolarum ad (…) Ciceronem.“ – Willems 420. – Binding slightly rubbed.
