First edition of this famous travel account by the British explorer Henry M. Stanley (1841-1904). The trans-Africa expedition, which is described in the present two volumes, took place in the years 1874 to 1877. It was Stanley who first used the term „Dark Continent“ for Africa. Both volumes complete with all plates and maps. – First inner hinge of vol. II somewhat loosened. Spine ends with minor wear. Owner’s stamp on both title leaves. Good in all. – Best.-Nr. 26892
