This edition of Pietro Aretino’s (1492–1556) most famous œuvre „Ragionamenti“, contains the first and second part of the „Ragionamenti“, including the „Ragionamento del Zoppino“, which most likely was not written by Aretino himself. The original text was published in 1534 and 1536 in Venice and Turin. Printed under the false name „Il Barbagrigia“ and the fictictious location Bengodi, John Wolfe (1547–1601) tried to escape the bad reputation of books printed in England in foreign languages at the time.
